What is Disc golf?
Disc (or Frisbee) golf is a similar game to "regular" golf except that it's played with a Disc. Players throw the disc as close as possible to a specially designed target called a basket, then throw again from where the disc landed, trying to get into the basket in the lowest number of throws. The chains on a target are there to help catch the disc by deflecting it into the basket.
We have installed a nine-hole course here at Ackers Adventure which is the first course in Birmingham. The course utilises an area of the centre that was once used as a 4x4 offroad track, we have cleared the paths through lots of undergrowth to create the nine-hole course.
Disc golf is a fantastic fun activity for any age or group, anybody can throw a disc, some are just better than others - even the regular players end up in the bushes! It gets you outside for a gentle walk and we have tried to make the course as accessible as possible.
There are two sets of Tees, Red is recommended for the beginners, these are shorter and a bit easier than the White tees which are a bit longer and more technical.
When can I play?
You can just turn up and pay on the day, but to make sure we are open and know you are coming, it would be great if you could book with the link below. When you arrive and check in we will issue you your hire disc, scorecard, map and pencil and off you go.
What should I wear?
The course is outdoors so dress appropriately for the weather and due to the uneven terrain and trip hazards in the woods wear boots or trainers (sorry not sandals)
How do you play?
Here's a video from our Friends at Disc Golf Uk to show you the basics.
